Gimpo Airport’s Domestic Terminal to undergo Renovations

On the 15th of February Yonhap News reported that Gimpo Airport’s Domestic Terminal would be renovated for the first time in 32 years. The domestic terminal was originally used as an international terminal through to 2001 but became a domestic terminal once Incheon International Airport was opened. Construction is expected to start in the second half of this year.

Yonhap reported that the remodeling would cost 250 billion won and would be completed in the year 2015. Some of the changes that will be made involve expanding the number of security checkpoints and boarding gates, plus installing more facilities such as moving walkways. Other alterations will involve a roof deck and sky park with solar energy systems. Gimpo has reported a steady increase in passengers in the last year, possibly due to the cheap fares offered by low budget airlines.
